Comann Camanachd Loch Carrainn
Lochcarron Camanachd draws its players from throughout the small communities of Wester Ross, from Ullapool to Applecross, Achintraid to Achnasheen, all Gaelic speaking areas. The Club was formed in 1883 and is the oldest in the West. Today we play in the centre of the village of Lochcarron on our own pitch at the Battery Park, named after the WW1 Ross Mountain Battery, in its day manned by local shinty players. The Club currently runs an adult team and several youth teams, keeping alive the traditions of shinty through weekly coaching lessons for our Primary School youngsters, girls and boys.

TROPHIES WON
Strathdearn 2016 Balliemore Cup 2001 and 1999, the Sutherland and Strathdearn on numerous occasions, right back to the 1930s.
The Club has set some off-the-field records – being awarded the UN Year of the Volunteer in 2001, twice securing Investors in People Status and Highland Council Sports Development Club of the Year. We were also the first sports club in Scotland to squeeze gift-aid tax concessions from the Treasury as a Community Amateur Sport Club (donations most gratefully received). Visitors are most welcome, we make no charge to watch Scotland’s oldest team sport. There is also free parking at the sea end of the Park and light refreshments in the Club House. All we ask is – just encourage the players by shouting Lochcarran gu brath!
