Game of the Week - Kyles Athletic vs GMA
Scott MacDonald Interview
It’s the 1st round of the Macaulay Cup this weekend, with Kyles Athletic taking on Glasgow Mid Argyll in Tighnabruaich. Kyles will be looking to add to their 12 triumphs in this competition by starting with a win against National Division opponents, whilst GMA will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s defeat over their opponents and arrest their slump in form. Ahead of the game we spoke to Kyles forward Scott MacDonald.
Kyles host GMA on Saturday in the Macaulay Cup, how is the mood in the squad ahead of the game?
We will be positive going into this one despite another defeat, as we played well against Kinlochshiel and I thought we deserved at least a draw!
What sort of challenge are you expecting?
I expect a very tough challenge from GMA! They beat us in Tighnabruaich last year and always make it difficult on the day
It hasn’t been easy for Kyles so far this season, can a positive result help in building some momentum?
It’s definitely been a tough start for us as we have lost a few players! I’m confident though a win could kickstart our season!
There’s some promising youngsters in the side, the likes of Ethan Kerr and Roan MacVicar, how have you seen these players develop so far throughout the season?
Ethan and Roan are regular starters and key players within our team and they are improving with every game, as well as 15 year old Luke MacVicar who has stepped up into squad and has been excellent at halfb ack for us!
