Lochaber II were crowned Mowi WCA North League champions on the penultimate day of the season after a 6-2 home win against Inverness, though the story of their season was one of domination. They opened up the season at Spean welcoming Skye to the Playing Field; an Erin MacPherson double was added to by the evergreen Kirsty Delaney, ensuring both points would stay south of the Commando Monument.

They would go on to put six past Kinlochshiel and newly formed Beauly before a first away match of the season saw Lilidh Campbell score two of Lochaber’s four goals without reply at Bught Park. The only blot on their copy book came in the Mowi Challenge Cup as they were knocked out, unashamedly, by the holders Badenoch 1-6 at home. The red and whites rallied from there though and put together a string of five wins to end the season including a ding-dong 3-5 victory at Rearaig against Kinlochshiel, Kirsty Delaney’s hat-trick the difference on that occasion. Those victories meant Lochaber would confirm the title with a 100% record and were rightly crowned champions. Though on the final day of the season, they were defeated by Lovat, but given they were champions nonetheless, it is unlikely to be remembered by those from Spean. While they certainly owe a lot to top scorer Kirsty Delaney, who finished with 11 for the season, it was far from a one woman show, in fact Lochaber boasted an incredible 12 scorers throughout the season. Well done to Lochaber from everyone at the Camanachd Association.

Lochaber Captain, Millie Alderson said: “I’m so proud of the team this season, all the girls have had such a positive attitude towards training and games which has led us to winning 9/10 games. It has been the best season yet and I’m looking forward to next year!”
