On Saturday 11th May, the Badenoch & Strathspey primary school teams came together, on what tuned into a spectacular day of sunshine and shinty at the Eilan, on the Dr Johnie Cattenach Field, to compete for the Allan Macpherson Cup.

The 6-aside tournament saw 6 teams enter: Alvie, Aviemore, Carrbridge, Kingussie, Newtonmore and Strathspey.

The games were closely battled, with some excellent shinty on show for local spectators and families to enjoy. The day concluded with Alvie securing the cup and runners-up Kingussie, only a point behind.

Thanks to Badenoch Shinty Memories for organising a local primary competition and Newtonmore Shinty Club for hosting and setting up the pitches. Thanks also goes to Joe, Joey, Logan and Rory for volunteering their time to referee. Further thanks also goes to Shelagh Noble (daughter of the late Allan Macpherson) for presenting the medals and cup.
