On Sunday 26^th April, the Camanachd Association held their 4^th yearly girls only primary tournament at Braeview Park, Beauly. The event welcomed 100 girls from clubs across the North of Scotland.

The teams played across two pitches in two leagues of 6 teams. Each team played all others in their league with the top 2 from each progressing to the Semi Finals.

The rain stayed off, the sunshine came out and the hot food and drink in the Beauly Tea Hut was welcomed by parents and players alike. All teams were in great spirits and some excellent shinty was on show throughout the day. The top four teams that progressed into the semi-finals after the round of games were GlenUrquhart and Portree from League A and Beauly and Lovat from League B.

After two very well contested semi-final games (both requiring extra time) Beauly managed to break the strong GlenUrquhart defence right before half time of extra-time giving them the momentum going into the final few minutes and allowing them to take their place in the final for 2026. In the other semi final it was end to end as it was in normal time with both teams having chances, it was Portree who left it late but scored towards the end of the second half to take their team to the final.

The final was a very exciting game between the two teams. They both battled hard and contested in an excellent game of shinty that proved to be very close. Beauly had the bulk of the early chances but were not able to convert. Portree capitalised on this and put their team ahead through and excellent Maisie Beaton goal, putting Beauly behind for the first time in the competition. Not long after, Beauly bounced back through the impressive Mia Fraser.  Beauly thought they had won it on the stroke of full time but although the ball reached the back of the net, they goal was declared offside, so extra time it was.

Beauly came out all guns blazing with Mia Fraser again on fine form, finding the net twice early on. Portree continued to battle and work tirelessly but nothing seemed to get past Evie MacDonald and Marci MacLean who kept calm at the back for Beauly. Beauly then scored again through Thea Thomson and rounded off the day with another fantastic strike by Mia Fraser securing the cup for Beauly for 2026.

Having reached either the finals or the semi finals in the competition since it started the Beauly girls were delighted to received their winners medals and the BR Plumbing and Heating Girls Primary Trophy for 2026 presented by sponsor (and coach) Barrie MacDonald.
