Congratulations to Col-Glen who lifted the MOWI South Division 1 title after beating Ballachulish 10-0 at Dunoon Stadium. That result means the club finish up on an unassailable 25 points for the season and the club has given its self a real shot at promotion to the MOWI National Division, their playoff fate depends on whether Newtonmore can win MOWI North Division 1 – if they do Col Glen will swap places with Aberdour automatically, if however, Inverness or Glengarry were to win North 1 then an end of season playoff would determine who is to be promoted. Col-Glen have form for beating North Division 1 sides this year though having vanquished Glengarry in the (Half-Swing Podcast!) Single Team Cup Competition Final and shouldn’t fear a playoff if it is to come.

The MOWI South Division 1 title is Col-Glen’s 2nd league title in the past 7 years having won MOWI South Division 2 in 2015. From South 2 to potential National Division shinty in 7 years (2 of which were lost to the pandemic) is an impressive feat and the fact Col-Glen still have a very young squad should bode well for the future. 20 goal Andrew MacVicar has been a real inspiration to his side but goals have not been too hard to come by on all fronts with Col-Glen averaging 3.82 goals per game this season.

Col-Glen Manager Ronnie MacVicar said: I am overjoyed for all involved with Col-Glen, todays on field success comes on the back of a lot of years hard work from these players many of whom have been with us from an early age, they have continually developed and progressed, and they all deserve credit. Successes like this season are great for our club and community who support us so well and we look forward to building further from here.

Col-Glen Captain Andrew MacVicar said: we are delighted to have won South Division 1, It’s been a long tough season in which we have all stuck together and worked hard on our game. It’s been a fantastic season for the club, players, and members with now winning the League and previously the single club cup. We are a young squad, and we will continue to build on this seasons success.

Col-Glen President Neil Black said: The club is absolutely delighted to be Champions of South Division 1. It has been a fantastic Season winning the single club cup and now the league. The players have shown a lot of commitment to make themselves available to play week in week out since March and its finally paid off.  The club would like to thank all our supporters who have cheered us on throughout the season home and away and we look forward to seeing you all next season.
