Ferguson Transport & Shipping Game of the Week - Kilmallie vs Glasgow Mid Argyll

Callum Morrison Interview

Ferguson Transport & Shipping Balliemore Cup returns this weekends, as the holders Glasgow Mid Argyll make the trip up north to face Kilmallie. Ahead of the match, we spoke to GMA’s Callum Morrison.

You travel up north to take on Kilmallie in the Ferguson Shipping & Transport Balliemore cup. How are you looking forward to the match?

It should be a good game this Saturday as we had a very competitive match against Kimallie in Glasgow earlier this season which we just managed to edge. That was a low scoring affair but judging by recent weeks I can see this being an exciting, high-scoring contest.

Last year saw GMA lift the Balliemore for the first time in their history – how did winning the cup feel?

Winning the cup was a great feeling and as a club we certainly enjoyed the win! I think everyone who has watched the game would agree that it wasn’t the prettiest of games to view but I feel the teamwork and togetherness shown by the group got us the win. It felt like from within the club a weight had been lifted after being unsuccessful in past Balliemore finals and the boys this year are certainly hungry to try and keep hold of the cup if we can.

A late comeback at Inveraray means you have now won 4 on the bounce – how is the mood around the squad right now?

The mood around the squad is really positive right now. Getting four wins on the bounce at any stage of the season is great and we are looking to continue that momentum into the next couple of cup fixtures. We are under no illusions that these will be difficult matches but we believe if we play to our potential we can get positive results.

GMA are still in four cup competitions – do you think you can make a real go of the cups this year?

The aim every year is to go deep into the cups and this year is no different. We have some difficult ties in the coming weeks/months but the mood in the squad is good and by continuing to work on the processes we have been building across the club, we will be hoping for some good results to progress in all of the cups.
