W M Donald Game of the Week - Lochaber vs Kilmallie

Max Campbell Interview

The W M Donald MacTavish Cup Quarter Final has thrown up a derby in Spean, as Lochaber face off against rivals Kilmallie. Ahead of the big game, we caught up with Lochaber’s Max Campbell.

It’s been a fantastic start for Lochaber – what has been key to this, and do you feel that you can carry on the momentum?

Yeah, it’s been a good start this season for the lads, our confidence is high after a good pre season where we all committed to the training early. We’ve had a slight change in our team, which we are still adapting to, so we all hope that it gives us a better balance throughout the team and hopefully keeps the momentum going.

You welcome Kilmallie to Spean Bridge – what do you see as their strengths, and how will you look to nullify these?

Kilmallie are scoring plenty goals this season, and with our defence just off a clean sheet for the first time in a very long time, if we stop them from scoring we trust our forwards will always get at least one.

You’ve scored 5 so far this season – what are your personal targets for the season?

I started the season off well, leading the most goals in the national league after a few games, but with our half back away I was put back into half back and I’ve been playing there every since, so I don’t think they’ll be many more goals this season from me!

Do you think Lochaber can go on a cup run this season?

Absolutely, I feel on our day we can give anyone a game and if we don’t believe we can win it there’s no point stepping foot on the pitch.
