The Camanachd Association are delighted to announce that our member clubs voted to progress on the safety issue of helmets at Friday night’s Annual General Meeting.
The new byelaw, which will come into effect for season 2027, means that all players must wear a compliant helmet (shell not faceguard) in training and games. The faceguard element will become compulsory for all players in 2030; while as previously, U25s must continue to wear a compliant helmet and faceguard. The Association gives thanks to our member clubs, whichever way they voted, for their attention on this important safety matter.
Barry Martin and John MacRitchie were elected to the Camanachd Association Board of Directors and we were sad to lose the skills of Roddy McCuish who served his 6 years with distinction.
The three other proposals on the night, with regard to increasing the number of substitutes a team could play all fell.
The Association once again would like to thank our member clubs for continuing to engage in matters to take our sport forward.
