You take on Kinlochshiel in the HIS Sutherland Cup final this weekend, how are the lads feeling ahead of the game?

The boys are fully focused and ready for this game on Saturday. Having battled 3 very good north teams already to get to this stage in the competition, we know that Saturday is gonna be another tough physical game but it’s something we are all up for and we will hopefully all rise to the occasion.

3 wins in your next 3 games would see Lochside complete a treble, how big an achievement would this be?

I have had a wee look at the history books and I am lead to believe Lochside have never completed the treble. If we could do this it would be an unbelievable achievement for such a young team but we have to win on Saturday to make this unbelievable opportunity possible.

How much of an honour is it to be joint captain of a team that has this in their sights?

It’s an absolute honour to be joint captain of Lochside rovers this year, myself and Charlie have been lucky enough to lift the Bullough Cup together a few weeks ago and it would be a great honour for the two of us to lift the Sutherland together on Saturday if the result goes our way.

Both teams have only met once in recent history so Shiel will be somewhat of an unknown quantity to Lochside, what do you know about them as a team?

We know that any Kinlochshiel team at any level will be a fit and physical side with some top quality players in their squad. Our coaches will have done their homework on them I’m sure, but at the end of the day we have to focus on ourselves and playing the shinty we know we can play.
