Roddy, yet another Macaulay Cup Final for Kingussie, how have the team been preparing ahead of Saturday? 

Just the same as any other week really, the intensity at training over the last few weeks has been brilliant and we are prepared for the game on Saturday which won’t be easy against a top side like Oban. We are looking forward to the challenge.

Of course, Oban Camanachd were the last side to best you in a final back in 2023, does that still play on the mind of the players, or were those ghosts vanquished after last year’s 4-1 win? 

I don’t think it plays on our mind at all, we’ve performed well on multiple occasions in finals but on that day, things didn’t go our way. Our full focus is on this final this Saturday, and on making sure that doesn’t happen again in.”

Victory on Saturday will mean 13 of the last 14 trophies have gone to Kingussie, what kind of confidence does winning consistently bring?

It brings a massive confidence to the team but also added pressure as we have set very high standards for ourselves that we are trying to maintain. We keep finding ourselves in the positions to win these competitions which is the main thing, so our confidence is there and all we can do is try to reflect that on the day

On a personal note, you were unfortunate to miss out on the Scotland squad the past two season through injury, how keen are you to catch Scotland Manager Alan MacRae’s eye on Saturday ahead of the Mowi International in October? 

I think the main thing for me is Saturday, it’s obviously a honour to play for your country but for me there is no bigger honour than pulling on the Kingussie strip and representing the club and community. I haven’t been playing my best lately, so I’m focused on improving myself and if eventually I’m lucky enough to be in consideration, then that would be a great privilege.

What is it like going into a game facing the league leaders rather than being them yourself?
