The Macaulay Sixes took place at Mossfield Stadium on June the 2nd for the first time since 2019. 27 teams entered on the day and these teams were split into 3 separate leagues: Development; P5 & Under and a P6/7 category.
In the Development section Park Primary and Dunadd progressed from the group stage, made up of 4 teams, to play each other in a final. In what was a well fought contest Park edged out Dunadd with 3-1 victory.
The primary 4/5 section had 2 leagues with a round robin format where the top 2 teams from each group progressed into a semi-final. In the first section Rockfield Whites topped their grouped with Kyles Athletic in the runners up position. In the other section Kilmory came out on top of their section with Aberdour grabbing the 2nd placed spot.
Rockfield progressed through to the final overcoming Aberdour with a strong display against their younger counterparts. In the other semi-final Kyles Athletics quick start against Kilmory put them in a strong position and despite battling display from Kilmory, Kyles came through to reach the final.
The final was an entertaining end to end encounter with Kyles going ahead. Rockfield battled back and equalised soon after to bring the scores level at the halfway stage of the final. Rockfield thought they had added another before half time, but the goal had been ruled out for offside. Rockfield did get their 2nd to take the lead early in the second half. However, Kyles battled and got the equaliser almost immediately from the throw up and with both teams searching for the winner it was Kyles who managed to come out on top grabbing a goal with just a couple of minutes to play and hung on for the win. Both teams were excellent throughout the day with Kyles captain Ryan Simpson grabbing many goals through the day. Arthur Handby from Rockfield was also excellent throughout driving his team on throughout.
The primary 6/7 competition also had 2 leagues with the top 2 teams again progressing to the semi-finals. Glasgow Gaels topped their league with Aberdour coming in the runner up spot. In the other group Kyles Athletic and Inverlochy were tied on 9 points. This meant that the teams were drawn to decide who would top that league. Inverlochy played Aberdour in one semi final with Kyles playing Gaels in the other semi.
Inverlochy started their semi final tie quickly and took a 3 goal lead quickly in the tie. Aberdour did battle back with a goal of their own although Inverlochy remained strong and sealed their place in the final grabbing another couple of goals.
In the other semi Kyles and Gaels played out another end to end contest. At the halfway stage of the game the scores were tied at 2-2 with neither team giving ground and it took 2 great strikes from Gaels to take the game to 4-2 and seal their place in the final to play Inverlochy.
The final was another great display of shinty. Inverlochy came out strong and won an early penalty which was saved fantastically by the Gaels keeper. The game remained goalless until just before half time where Inverlochy grabbed a deserved lead. Despite Gaels best efforts to get back into the game two more nicely worked moves from Inverlochy sealed a 3-0 victory in the final.

Olly McVicar from Kyles was consistent also throughout the day also Wiktor Wieckowski from Inverlochy scored important goals throughout the day for his side, including 2 in the final.
