It’s always important to start well in the Premier League. This is a league where any team can take points from another on their day and the margins for error are so small. It was a fantastic first result of the season given our shortage of players on the day, and I personally find this whole squad willing to knuckle down for the cause as shown on the weekend. We can take a positive mentality into the match on Saturday.

Next up it’s a trip to high flying Kingussie – how will you look to nullify their threat and exploit weaknesses?

As for our opponents on Saturday we will have a game plan set out for us to try and achieve during the week and in training. If we focus on ourselves and less on the opponent, I feel like that could give us our best chance. Respect where it is due, we aren’t going into this fixture with naivety.

How did it feel to be named Lovat captain for the 2025 season?

To be named captain of my local club and the only club I have and ever would play for is an honour. I just feel like I need to do my best to lead by example during this transitional period.

Lovat’s personnel have undergone a large change this season – what are your aims for 2025?

There have been changes on and off the park, and we have changed a few things in training with the new managers coming in. There is a freshness about the club again this season. We have aims set by the manager, and we will do our best to achieve them. However those aims are for us a group to know, and they won’t be shared. Lovat will take things one game at a time. We are still learning where we are at as a squad, but what I can tell you is that this group are a great bunch of individuals who are ready to fight for each other when the time comes.
