The Camanachd Association sat down with Alec Cunningham to chat about Kilmory’s chances in Saturday’s MKM Building Supplies Bullough Cup Final.
Alec, an exciting game this weekend as Kilmory take on GMA in the MKM Building Supplies (Oban) Bullough Cup Final, how are you and the team feeling ahead of the fixture?
We are all really looking forward to the Bullough Cup Final….as we are a young team it will be a first final for most of the boys.
GMA are obviously in the league above, how do you go about upsetting the odds come Saturday?
There’s no doubt Glasgow Mid Argyll will be favourites going into this game….Kilmory just have to go out and do what has got us here and that’s giving it their all on the pitch and who knows what will happen.
You faced the same opposition earlier on in the season when you played them in the Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup – what did you learn from that game?
Our learnings from that game was GMA are a strong physical team in all areas of the pitch but our young lads stuck to their tasks for the full 90 minutes.
On a personal note, you have an impressive 19 goals in all competitions this season. Do you fancy your chances of adding to that come Saturday?
Every game I play I’m going out to score in it…but as long as me or my team mates scores for us and we score more than the team we are playing….I’m happy and that’s the same come Saturday.
What would it mean to Kilmory to add to their 2 Bullough Cup triumphs?
To win the Bullough cup this season would be a massive achievement for Kilmory Shinty Club. Considering the average age of the current team and the number of experienced players we lost over the past 2 years. Credit has to go to our coaches for all their hard work and to our small committee for all the hard work they do behind the scenes.
