It’s the Macaulay Cup Final this weekend, how are you and the guys feeling ahead of the game?

Yeah really looking forward to the game. This will be my first trip to a cup final with the first team, so it’s a big deal for me. The boys are looking sharp at training and are fired up for Saturday.

Oban Camanachd are a strong side, though they went through 120 minutes on Saturday past, do you think fitness and fatigue could come into it this weekend?

Fitness has always been a strong point in our team. If it comes down to extra time I’m confident in the boys pushing through the 120 minutes comfortably. We also have a strong bench of fit players who are all eager to get on the pitch and make an impact.

It’s always a shame to see injuries but you’ve taken your chance in the first team with both hands, I thought you had a good game in the Camanachd Semi and then you were on the scoresheet last week too, how are you feeling in your own shinty at the moment?

It’s definitely an exciting time in my shinty career. Getting the opportunity to play 1st team over the last couple weeks has really increased my confidence in training and on the pitch. I had a chance to make it count and I came off the pitch happy with my performance. With so many injuries it’s important I give it my all until the team is back up to full strength.

The Macaulay Cup is arguably the hardest trophy to win and you’ve definitely had some tough fixtures along the way, beating Kinlochshiel, Newtonmore and Skye, just to get to the final, how much determination does that give you to get over the line?

It definitely gives us a lot of motivation. We’ve had to come through some really tough games against top opposition to get here, which shows the character that’s in the squad. We’ve worked hard to reach the final and we’re determined to make the most of the opportunity.

Finally, I have to ask you about the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final that has now been set up with local rivals Newtonmore, were you secretly celebrating when they went through, a chance for revenge for 2025 perhaps?

Newtonmore are a strong side and it will be a very tough battle, but after last years Camanachd Cup I think the team would prefer Newtonmore in the final, as it gives us a chance to put things right after 2025.
