The Camanachd Association is delighted to announce that Mowi, our longstanding partner, has once again renewed its commitment to youth shinty by continuing the Mowi Youth Development Fund in 2026. This agreement will provide crucial support to shinty clubs in their development efforts, ensuring more opportunities for children and young people to engage with the sport.
The Youth Development Fund aims to enhance participation at accredited or accrediting member clubs by offering a maximum grant award of £500. This funding is available to accredited member clubs proposing new or improved initiatives to develop shinty for children and young people up to the age of 18.
This investment marks an incredible 38 years of Mowi sponsoring shinty, showcasing their unwavering dedication to the sport and its development.
Examples of the types of projects eligible for funding include:
- Recruitment, training, and development of additional volunteers, youth coaches, and referees to enhance club capacity through the Club Accreditation scheme.
- Establishing new opportunities for young people to participate in shinty.
-
Enhanced activities targeted at increasing participation during holiday periods, such as running summer camps.
-
Enhanced promotional activity targeted at increasing participation i.e. Club Open Days, engaging with their community.
-
Improvement to a pitch or facility.
Closing date for submissions is Friday 17th July 2026, with the association encouraging applications from new clubs.
