Mowi Game of the Week - Skye vs Glenurquhart
Catherine Robertson Interview
This Saturday, Skye welcome Glenurquhart in the Mowi WCA Premier League, with the islanders looking to repeat their 4-2 victory against the same side on the opening day of the season. We sat down with Skye’s Catherine Robertson to preview the game:
Skye came out on top against Glenurquhart in the season opener—what lessons are you taking from that match into Saturday’s rematch?
Well we know we’ll be in for a difficult game. We didn’t start all that well that day and it took us until fairly late on to get our noses in front. We know we have to be solid and start well because they have forwards who can score.
After a strong start, the team has faced back-to-back defeats—how do you and your teammates plan to reset and respond?
The new structure means that every game is going to be tough and teams are taking points of each other. That’s good for the league, but every point is hard earned. It’s still early in the season and I think some home games and the chance to train on grass now will help us improve. We’re also getting players back from injury so we just need to stay positive, work hard and the results will come.
Glenurquhart will be hungry to even the score—what will it take to come away with the points this time?
We’ll need to match that hunger, win our individual battles and take our chances when they come.
You were part of the 2024 USA Performance Camp—how has that experience shaped your game and mindset this season?
It was lots of fun with a brilliant group – and amazing to experience fantastic sporting facilities. I think it just reinforced our love for shinty and the opportunities it can give.
Skye has shown flashes of real quality—what do you think needs to click for the team to find consistent form?
I think we just need to stick together as a squad. We know we have talent in the team, and if we all put the shift in the wins will follow.
