You welcome Cabers on Saturday, what kind of game are you expecting?

Cabers are a really top team in recent years and we’ll expect to have our work cut out for us in all areas of the park. I’d expect it to be fast and physical.

You currently sit 7th, albeit it with two games in hand – how important is it to make these two extra matches count?

Games in hand can ease the pressure a bit, but we need to convert those into points. The results in our league have shown that every team is capable of beating each other, so every point is valuable to us climbing our way back up that table.

It’s a trip to Inverness in the TH Camanachd Cup next week – what are Shiel’s aims for the cups?

Of course its our ambition to take home some silverware this year – but we are focusing on each game as it comes to us. Cabers are the next challenge we have to try and overcome.

You’ve only conceded 4 goals in the league this season, however you’re coming up against a Cabers frontline that knows how to score – how big a challenge will it be to nullify these threats?

They know how to score thats for sure. We have to try and starve their forwards of as much ball as we can – which means defending from the front line and pressing them into making mistakes.

Whilst it wasn’t a great result for the first team against Newtonmore, your reserves stuck 5 into the Newtonmore II net – how are you seeing the development of your younger talents going, and how important a role will they playing in continuing Kinlochshiel’s status as a team that knows how to challenge for trophies?

Our second team have been producing some fantastic performances which shows their talent across the squad. These players are now developing into the guys who will step into the first team very shortly and take over from those of us who have been there a while. We have been introducing young players into our squad with the aim of moulding them into positions we need covered and getting them up to speed with the level of shinty that’s played in the Premiership. They are definitely up to the task.

It was another Scotland cap for yourself last year – how are you working on maintaining the same level of performance?

Being included in the Scotland squad was such a privilege that I wasn’t expecting to be awarded again. There’s some unreal players who play my position like Blair Morrison, Zander Michie and Craig Mainland – so if I can look at the parts of their games that make them so good and try to replicate that in some way I’ll hopefully be in with a chance again in the future.
