We are now just 2 days away from the final, how have the team been preparing and how do you cope with nerves going into the biggest game of the season?

We have been working really hard over the season on our fitness. Everyone in the team has been digging deep and giving everything into the training sessions,  twice a week. As for the nerves, I’m just trying to focus on giving my all on the day and play the best shinty I can.  We just need to pretend there are no cameras and just play like we have been over the last 8 weeks.

It was a 2-2 draw with Skye in the league back in April, what did you make of them that day?

Yeah, Skye were very strong that day, they played very well, linking some impressive play in the forward line but we managed to fight hard and grab the point. It was a real physical battle but an enjoyable game all round.

GMA have already more than doubled their points tally from 2022, how much of an upward trajectory is this club on?

GMA have come on leaps and bounds. We have mix of experience and we have a lot of young girls still in High school who have years ahead of them. GMA has a wealth of experience within the team and I am going to declare the best defence within the league. Hopefully we continue to work well as a team , giving us more confidence and achieving great results further on down the line.

On a personal note, you have an impressive 16 goals this season (over a quarter of GMA’s total), how are you finding life in that forward line, and do you fancy yourself to bag one on Saturday?

I started off the season in full centre and managed to get a shot upfront for half a game and that’s been me ever since! Our forward line is really starting to gel and link up well together. There’s been a lot of work put into that side of things.

I would love to score a goal on Saturday and hopefully that will be the case but you never know, depends on the day.

Lucy, GMA are in the final for the first time since lifting the trophy back in 2015, what would it mean to the girls, the club and the community to win the Valerie Fraser on Saturday?

It would mean the world to every single player on this team. We have put in so much work throughout the year and have fought tooth and nail in the games leading up to this point so to win would be a fantastic achievement.
