Mowi Game of the Week - Inveraray vs Glengarry

Paige Scott Interview

It’s a first this weekend as Inveraray take on Glengarry for the first time since they gained promotion to the WCA Mowi National League. ‘Aray will be looking to add to their two league wins – we spoke to Paige Scott to get her thoughts ahead of the game.

It’s Glengarry this weekend, how is the mood in the squad ahead of the game?

The mood in the team is good! We are very happy with our win 2 weeks ago, everyone was pleased with how they played and we are hoping to take that positivity and momentum forward into the game against Glengarry.

Your earlier meeting with Glengarry was postponed so it’ll be the first time you’ve played them – how do you prepare to a face a team you don’t know that much about?

It is quite difficult to face all these new teams we have never played before. We are just going into every game with an open mind and adapting to the game as it is played. We were used to playing the South division teams and we knew most of the players so playing teams who are unknown is definitely more of a challenge!

What lessons have the team learnt from playing against higher quality opponents?

We have definitely learnt alot playing these higher quality teams, its a totally different style of play especially against some of the north teams. You learn a lot from playing better teams and it is definitely allowing us to improve our play by taking from what these other teams are doing.

It’s pretty tight in the league with 5/7 teams on 4 points, are you confident of getting results that would push ‘Aray up the table?

I hope we can secure another two points, the team is definitely capable of it but it will just be how we link up on the day. Each team is different every time you play them so we are definitely trying to go into all games with an open and positive mindset and believe in ourselves that we can do it!

You were selected for the West squad last season, is getting back in the aim for this year?

It was a massive achievement to get into the west squad last year. My focus this year is on our new challenge in the national division which is definitely, in turn, helping with my shinty and fitness so I think this would better prepare me for the players in the area representative matches. It would be great to get into the squad again this year but we will see what happens!
