Mowi Scotland Shinty Captains Announced

The Camanachd Association is delighted to announce that Mairi Duncan (Lochaber) and Blair Morrison (Caberfeidh) will Captain the Scotland Squads for the Mowi Shinty Hurling International which is set to take place on Saturday at Bught Park, Inverness from Noon.

The Mowi Shinty/Hurling International match has been a long-standing tradition, bringing together top talents from both Scotland and Ireland in a thrilling showcase of shinty and hurling skills. 2025 marks the return of the international to Scotland for the first time since 2018 with the fixture always drawing large crowds keen to see the cross-code game.

Mairi Duncan will be leading out the women’s team at Noon, the Lochaber star lifted the Mowi Premier League title just a matter of weeks ago and is a two-time Mowi Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup winner.

2024 Mowi Player of the Year Blair Morrison will captain the Scottish men for their fixture from 2pm. The Caberfeidh Half-Back is widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation and brings experience having been capped in 2019, 2023 and 2024 – being named Man of the Match on his international debut.

Scotland Women’s Captain Mairi Duncan said:

“I am delighted to be part of a historic international and getting to captain such a fantastic team of girls in front of our own fans! It’ll be a tough game against the very physical Irish, but I feel that the girls will put up a great challenge.”

Scotland Men’s Captain Blair Morrison said:

“It’s a great honour to be chosen as Scotland captain and to lead the boys out come Saturday. The last few years have been really competitive, but I can’t wait to play in front of a home crowd in what should be a great atmosphere. The team have all been training hard and hopefully we will have enough to win back the trophy.”

Scotland Captain Blair Morrison is presented with the Donald Campbell Memorial Silver Kilt Pin by Michael Campbell.

Blair was presented with a kilt pin on behalf of Donald Campbell. The kilt pin which is in Donald’s memory was presented by his son Michael at Bught Park and is greatly appreciated by both the Association and Blair.

Tickets for Saturday’s epic encounter are available at www.shinty.com/tickets and are always cheapest when purchased online.
