Season Review: Badenoch

Badenoch delivered a dominant performance throughout the season, consistently showcasing their strength and skill. They began the campaign with a strong 5-0 victory over Glenurquhart, setting the tone for what would be a season characterised by impressive attacking displays and solid defensive work.

Across 16 gameweeks, Badenoch secured 14 wins, losing only twice. Notable victories include the recent 13-0 win against Ardnamurchan and a strong 11-1 victory against Kinlochshiel, highlighting their potent offensive capabilities. They also recorded significant away wins, such as the 8-0 triumph against Dunadd and a solid 4-0 win at Glenurquhart.

However, the season wasn’t without its challenges. A 4-0 defeat to Skye in Gameweek 11 was a stark reminder of the intensity of the Mowi WCA National Division, but Badenoch responded strongly with a series of victories thereafter. The tight 4-3 win over Skye in the Semi-Final of this competition demonstrated their ability to edge out tough opponents in close encounters.

Badenoch’s defence was formidable, conceding only 17 goals in 16 matches, while their attack was prolific, netting a remarkable 97 goals. Key matches like the 6-1 win over Lochaber and the 5-0 win against GMA showcased their ability to perform under pressure.

Season Review: Lochaber

Lochaber’s season has been a mix of strong performances and challenging moments. They kicked off their campaign with a convincing 3-0 away win against Kinlochshiel, which set the stage for a largely successful season. Over 16 gameweeks, Lochaber secured 11 wins, drew twice, and suffered three defeats.

Early in the season, Lochaber demonstrated their attacking power, particularly in a 7-0 victory over Ardnamurchan and a 6-0 win against Inverness. Their defense was also impressive, keeping clean sheets in several matches, including a narrow 1-0 victory over Glenurquhart.

However, the team faced difficulties in key matchups against stronger opponents. A 6-1 loss to Badenoch in Gameweek 12 and a 5-2 defeat earlier in Gameweek 8 exposed some defensive frailties. Additionally, close encounters like the 3-2 loss to GMA and the 2-1 defeat to the same team later in the season highlighted areas for improvement.

Lochaber’s resilience was evident in their ability to bounce back from these setbacks, as seen in their hard-fought 2-1 win over Kinlochshiel and the 4-1 victory over Inverness in the final stretch of the season. A thrilling 6-6 draw with Skye in Gameweek 11 was another example of their fighting spirit.

Offensively, Lochaber scored 59 goals throughout the season, while conceding 25. Their ability to win tight games, like the 1-0 win over Glenurquhart in Gameweek 2, has been crucial to their overall success up to this point.
