On Saturday the 9th of November 2024, the new Shinty Ambassadors from 20 Schools of Shinty attended Lochaber High to go through their ambassador training day. The training day  consisted of Ice breakers as they got to know their fellow ambassadors, forward planning for 2024, a great Young Leaders session with Adrienne Hunter from sports Scotland and a chance to run shinty specific drills to their fellow ambassadors.

The New 24/25 Ambassadors will be responsible for becoming the driving force behind promoting and enhancing opportunities to take part in Shinty in their specific Schools and surrounding communities. This will be done through taster sessions, after School/lunchtime clubs and organising competitions for young people within the schools to compete.

Roddy Young, Ambassador Leader with the Camanachd Association said: “It was a real pleasure to work closely with these young Ambassadors.

“They were brilliant to work with as they excelled in all the tasks that they were presented with on the day.

“I’m positive that they will be great role models within the Schools and I look forward to seeing the impact they have on

Shinty in their Schools and also their wider community.

“I want to thank Royal bank of Scotland for their continued support of the Ambassador Program and I look forward to continuing our partnership together.”

The Ambassadors will be seen at Camanachd Association events in the coming months and will be going through several Courses to gain valuable skills in coaching, refereeing and many more. We look forward to seeing all of them in action over the next 9 months.
