Mowi Premiership
Opening Fixtures
Caberfeidh vs Newtonmore
Fort William vs Kyles Athletic
Kingussie vs Beauly
Lovat vs Skye
Oban Camanachd vs Kinlochshiel
Champions Kingussie open their season with a home game against newly promoted Beauly with the two sides needing extra time to be separated in last season’s Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Quarter-Final. Fellow new boys Fort William have a home game against Kyles Athletic, the last time those two met was a 4-2 win for Kyles in June 2022. New Oban Camanachd Manager Daniel Cameron will start his managerial reign at Mossfield against Kinlochshiel, there is very little between those two sides as evidenced by two 1-1 stalemates last campaign. Another new face in the dugout is that of Iain Nicolson who has been appointed Lovat Manager, the Camanachd Cup runners-up welcome his native Skye in the opening game of the season. Finally, the first Mowi Game of the Week sees Caberfeidh welcome Newtonmore, both sides are able to boast some player additions ahead of the new campaign as each will look to hunt down Grand Slam champions Kingussie again this year.
Mowi WCA Premier League
Opening Fixtures
Inverness vs Badenoch
Glenurquhart vs Skye
Lochaber vs Glasgow Mid Argyll
The women’s leagues were revamped this year to create a Mowi WCA Premier League and a Mowi National below it. Glenurquhart and Skye will have the honour of playing the first ever Mowi Premier League fixture and this fixture last year definitely delivered in terms of goals, Skye winning 3-2 at the end of March.
On Sunday, champions Badenoch will travel to Inverness and will go there with confidence having won 3-0 home and away against the city dwellers in 2024; Inverness, however, have a great young side and in Kamryn Hughes they have a proven goal scorer at this level (15 in 2024). The Mowi Valerie Fraser holders Lochaber welcome the only south team in the Mowi WCA Premier League Glasgow Mid Argyll and despite the home side wining the major silverware of 2024, it was GMA who won both encounters last season.
