Oban Celtic have intimated to the Association that they are unable to complete the current shinty season in the Mowi National Division due to a shortage of committed senior players. Despite their best efforts to field a team, they have found it increasingly difficult to fulfil their fixtures.
Oban Celtic has made the difficult decision to withdraw from senior competition for the remainder of the season. We understand that this was not a decision made lightly, and we support their plans to rebuild and stabilise the club as a single team for the 2025 season.
Oban Celtic were keen to note the understanding and cooperation shown by Inveraray and Fort William during this challenging time for Oban Celtic. Their flexibility in rearranging fixtures has been helpful, however, the club are keen to move in a direction with fully committed players and that means dropping to one team.
The Camanachd Association remains committed to supporting Oban Celtic as they focus on their future and development. We look forward to seeing them return to the field stronger next season.
In accordance with the Camanachd Association’s byelaws, Oban Celtic’s National Division points tally will be nullified and all results from this season (and point picked up by other sides against them) will be removed.
3.5.5 If a club withdraws from the League without fulfilling their fixtures the points and goals scored and conceded from their fulfilled fixtures shall be removed from the league.
