Peter Gow (Lochaber, Caberfeidh, Inverness & Women’s Camanachd Association)

The shinty community has lost a much–respected and well-loved figure. Peter Gow’s passing leaves many saddened, particularly those who had the good fortune to know him well.

Peter was involved in almost every role at Inverness – player, coach, committee member and President from 1986 to 2016. He encouraged young players, welcomed visitors, and was a familiar friendly face at the Bught.

Peter first picked up a caman at school in Roybridge, later playing for Lochaber and Caberfeidh before settling with Inverness. He also supported the women’s game, serving as President of the WCA for a year and being recognised for his contribution. His enthusiasm for shinty was shared widely through his time as a radio commentator.

Despite a difficult year with his health, Peter was still at the 2025 Camanachd Cup, pleased to be there and catching up with friends, coming back to the Bught the very next day to visit Shinty’s Story, Peter was committed to his shinty.

The thoughts of the whole shinty community are with his wife Dot and wider family.

Funeral arrangements to follow.
