Monday 17th May brought a return of one of life’s greatest pleasures – no not getting a pint indoors! It was the return of shinty….

From Monday adult friendlies have been able to take place and in addition to that the first MOWI London Shield U17s matches happened on Tuesday night.

In section A there was a derby match between Fort William and Kilmallie at An Aird which saw Fort run out 7-0 winners with Rhys Kennedy helping himself to 4.

Section B saw the first of many Badenoch Derby’s this season with James Blair bagging the only goal of the game.

Inverness put two past Lovat without reply in section C, MacIntosh & Boag on the scoreline for the Bught Park outfit.

Finally, the game of the night has to go to Skye vs Kinlochshiel which was a 9 goal thriller. If you score a hat-trick you have every right to be confident of your teams victory, this wasn’t the case however for Shiel’s Archie MacRae, Taylor Matheson of Skye instead grabbing the headlines with a 5 goal display to ensure the points would be staying in Skye. The CA’s thanks go to Paul Paterson & Fiona Young for providing images.

In senior shinty Inveraray met Kyles in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday with the MOWI National side running out 4-3 winners. There is no question it is fantastic to see both juniors & seniors getting back out there and playing shinty.

One development that has become clear having spoken to clubs is that things run much more smoothly if there is a COVID Co-Ordinator from each club available at matches.

We now look forward to the rest of the week’s MOWI U14’s matches:
