Cameron, a big game as you take on Fort William in the Strathdearn Cup Final this Saturday, how have preparations been going?

Preparations are going well, all the boys have been looking forward to it for weeks now. We’re all still training hard each week the same as we have all season and we’re seeing areas in our performance which we could improve on so hopefully it should all be fine tuned for Saturday.

Both teams are flying high in North 1 and vying for the title too, does that give this game an extra edge?

Yeah, I’d say it definitely does, Fort William have had a great season so far in the league and it looks like it could go down to the wire so it would be a great confidence boost for the run in if we could get one over them on Saturday.

You beat Fort 5-1 back in May – how much confidence does that give you going into this game?

Yeah, it does give us a bit of a confidence boost – all the boys played really well that day and everything seemed to click, although we know that version of Fort William we played up in Portree was not their best and we’re expecting a much tighter contest on Saturday -but I still feel if we show up on and play the shinty we’re all capable of then we should get the job done.

What kind of strengths do they have as a side that you will need to be aware of going into Saturday?

They’re pretty strong all over the park and they’ve got a good mix of youth and experience in their squad much like ourselves. They’ve not shipped many goals at the back at all this year so our forwards will need to be clinical on Saturday, which I have no doubt they will be – it’s something we’ve definitely improved on as the season has gone on. They’ve been pretty free scoring themselves this year too so we’ll need to be switched on at the back, get the basics right and work hard for each other.
