The Balliemore Cup is shinty’s intermediate cup competition and is open to 1st teams playing in the Mowi National, Mowi North 1 and Mowi South 1.
The cup takes its name from Colin MacRae of Balliemore, who ran a competition in the Kyles of Bute at the beginning of the 20th century. After a long period of inactivity, Duncan MacRae presented the trophy to the Camanachd Association, who used the trophy for a competition aimed at clubs who were outsiders in the Camanachd Cup, but were also ineligible for the Sutherland Cup. This was initially named the Intermediate Championship, with Bute running out winners of the maiden final after a 3-2 win over Glengarry in 1985. They have since added 4 more titles, tying them for the record number of wins with Caberfeidh. The most recent champions are Glasgow Mid-Argyll, who lifted the trophy for the first time in their history after their triumph over Fort William.
