Kingussie vs Skye
Kieran MacPherson Interview
The quest for shinty’s greatest honour continues this weekend as Kingussie take on Skye in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup semi final, and we caught up with Kieran MacPherson to get his thoughts ahead of the big match..
Kieran, it’s a big match in Kingussie’s quest to regain the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup, how is the mood in the squad ahead of the game?
The mood in the squad is good, this team has experience in these games so the lads do well keeping training fun and enjoyable but staying focused and ready to go come game time.
Playing in matches like these are what any young player strives to achieve, how much will you relish the chance to play on the biggest stage?
I love playing in big games like this, I thrive on the challenge it presents and I believe I’ve had some of my best performances in these kind of games.
The team has struggled with injuries recently especially in the forward line, does this increase the pressure on yourself to step up and perform to clinch the win?
I don’t think there is any pressure on any individual, as long as we play as a team from back to front the goals will come and secure a spot in the final for us.
Despite having their own struggles with player availability Skye are still a very strong side, what do you make of them as a team and what will Kingussie have to do to nullify their threats?
Yeah, we have both struggled with injuries yet both still pose threats in front of goal, if we focus on our game and match them physically we can get the job done.
