W M Donald Game of the Week - Lovat vs Fort William
Victor Smith Interview
The first finalists at the newly renovated Bught Park will be decided on Saturday, as high flying Fort William take on Lovat at Balgate in the W M Donald MacTavish Cup Semi-Final. Ahead of the big fixture we caught up with Fort William’s Victor Smith.
A win on Saturday would send Fort to their second consecutive W M Donald Cup final – how are you looking forward to the game?
Everyone at the club is looking forward to the game on Saturday with a chance to make it to the final 2 years in a row. I’m sure it will be a tough game against Lovat like it was earlier on in the season.
A dominant performance at Castle Leod continued your impressive start to the season – how is the mood around the group right now?
It was brilliant to go away and get another 2 points at a difficult ground after our result from the week before, which is credit to the team for not letting our heads drop.
It’s not only your first team doing well, as Fort William II have so far won 9 out of 9 – how exciting is it to see this, and do you think a good number of them can eventually make the step up?
It’s been a fantastic start for them as well after beating a few tough opponents and hopefully they can carry on this good run of form. A few boys have already stepped up this season and proved they are good enough to play premiership shinty too.
5 goals so far for yourself this season, how has the step up to the Premiership been?
It’s been a good start getting 5 goals in the first few games, but I’m hoping to add a couple more with a lot of big games coming up!
