The Camanachd Association and W M Donald are delighted to present the draw for the 2025 W M Donald MacTavish Cup Quarter-Final. This year marks W M Donald’s first year as sponsor, a new venture for the civil engineering organisation who are committing to supporting community sport. The draw took place at Inverness Botanic Gardens on Monday morning.
The draw has produced some interesting ties:
The holders Kingussie were first out of the hat and will play the winner of Skye vs Newtonmore while league leaders Fort William face a journey west to take on 2021 champions Kinlochshiel. It’s an all Mowi National affair as local rivals Lochaber and Kilmallie will do battle for a place in the semis, and Lovat have a short journey down Loch Ness to play Glenurquhart.
Barry Smeaton, Commercial Director at W M Donald, said:
“Our work in the Highlands has really come on over the last 5 years, including developments at Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport and Ardersier Port. It is a natural extension of that for us to invest in community sport and what better sport to invest in than shinty.”

“As the teams involved eagerly await the outcome of the draw for the quarter-finals of this year’s W M Donald MacTavish Cup, I would like on behalf of the Camanachd Association to express our appreciation of the support of our new sponsors in this, the first year of their involvement in shinty. We are looking forward to developing close links with W M Donald who have already shown a keen interest in our sport.
Nine teams remain in the ballot with Skye and Newtonmore still having the opportunity to secure the final place. Current holders, Kingussie made it through to the draw but only after winning a penalty play-off against Beauly which demonstrates just how competitive shinty is at the top level.

The W M Donald MacTavish Cup Final will take place at the newly refurbished Bught Park, Inverness, on June 14th 2025.
