Mowi Game of the Week - Dunadd vs Strathspey
Eilidh Cameron Interview
Dunadd will host Strathspey this weekend, and with 23 goals in their previous two meetings it’s got the makings a great game. Ahead of the match, we spoke to Eilidh Cameron, herself no stranger to finding the back of the net.
Dunnad will host Strathspey in the weekend, how are you feeling ahead of the game?
I’m feeling very positive ahead of the weekend! We have a strong team available for this game, and we are really looking forward to getting back into action since our past couple of games were cancelled.
We know Strathspey are a strong side; they won our last encounter, so we are fully aware that this won’t be an easy game. It should be a great challenge for the team.
This week will be the third meeting between the sides, with 23 goals in the previous two matches is it fair to say we can expect a high scoring game again?
It’s hard to say! With so many goals in the previous meetings, it’s clearly been high-scoring in the past, but I’m not sure exactly how this game will go this weekend.
I’m hoping we can walk away with a good win and get more points on the table, but we just need to see what happens on the day and stay focused for the full 80 minutes.
The weather hasn’t been kind to yourselves so far with no game in a month, will the team be raring to get going on Sunday?
The team are eager to reunite on the pitch and maintain our momentum for the rest of the season. Although the weather has stopped us from playing, we have continued our hard work at training to ensure we stay sharp and ready for Sunday.
With a walkover in the Challenge Cup, and a draw against Glengarry in the Single Team Cup, do you think this is the year Dunnad make a real go of it?
We are feeling confident in these cup games and are especially looking forward to the Single Team Cup since it’s a new competition for women! We were disappointed to be knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Badenoch last year, so this time we are just going to work as a team and try to progress as far as we possibly can.
4 goals for yourself so far this season, what are your personal aims for the season?
I don’t really set specific targets for myself and prefer to just take each game as it comes. While it’s always great to score as many as I can, the most important thing is taking the points, regardless of who gets on the scoresheet. My goal is to assist my teammates as much as they support me, helping us build goalscoring confidence across the entire team—after all, it’s goals that win games!
