15th of June 2019- Bught Park, Inverness

The day began at 1pm as crowds gathered to watch the under 17s McTavish Cup derby game which seen Newtonmore and Kingussie go head to head.

Newtonmore got off to a successful start and scored their first goal during the 10th minute. As a result of this, Newtonmore lead the game at half time. Stag’s Breath were proud to support Wee James as he participated in this game.

The second half had the crowd in anticipation as the game started to heat up. During the 44th minute, Kingussie evened the score. However, Newtonmore quickly fought back, scoring their second goal.

Unfortunately for Newtonmore, Kingussie managed to bag 2 more goals before the end of the game. As a result, Kingussie became the 2019 Under 17s McTavish Cup Winners. We would like to congratulate all of the players from this match for showing the crowd an excellent game of Shinty! We look forward to seeing another Derby Game soon!

2nd Game of the Day!

Many Newtonmore Shinty fans, although disappointed for the young boys, waited eagerly for the cottages.com MacTavish Cup final between Newtonmore and Glenurquhart to commence.

After numerous attempts, both teams finished the first half without any goals, meaning the excitement was still to come.

During the 63rd minute, Iain Robinson successfully managed to hit the ball into the net, making the score 1-0.

Captain, Evan Menzies, then managed to secure 2 more goals before the end of the game. This 3-0 victory meant that Newtonmore were able to take the McTavish Cup home for the 43rd time (This was also their forth consecutive year winning this cup.)

Huge Congrats to Iain Robinson who won Man of the Match and, of course, to the whole team! The first of many this season, we hope!
