This Saturday, the National Division’s two undefeated sides come together in the cottages.com MacTavish Cup Quarter-Final as Fort William host Beauly. In order to preview this game, we sat down with Beauly Captain, Colin MacDonald. You can see an interview with young Fort William star, Craig MacDonald later this week.
Colin, a big Quarter-Final ahead of Beauly this Saturday, how have preparations gone for the game?
Preparations have been the same as usual, the boys have been training well and we’re looking forward to the game on Saturday.
It’s been a great start to the season, 5 wins out of 5 including beating Premiership opposition in the first round in the form of Lochaber. How are you and the boys feeling about the new campaign?
Yeah it’s been a great start but we won’t get ahead of ourselves – it’s a long season and we’ll need everyone in the squad to keep up good performances if we want to maintain our 100% record.
What is it like leading Beauly out and how did you react when you found out you were Captain?
It’s an honour to captain Beauly and I was delighted to be chosen to lead out the boys this season.
Fort William, like yourselves, have a 100% record going into Saturday – what kind of test do you think they will be?
We know Fort William are a good side and will definitely test us but nothing we can’t overcome, so hopefully if we all win our individual battles on the park we can get a result.
A victory on Saturday would put you into the Semi-Finals and just one step away from that big day out at The Eilan on June 8th. What would it mean to the club to be in a major final?
Obviously to make a major final would be massive for the club and would be an amazing experience for all the boys. However, we’ll take each game one at a time and focus on what’s in front of us first.
