Not one, not two but three clubs made their debuts in the Mowi Leagues on Sunday!
It was a successful international women’s day, with Kilmallie being the first to throw up as they faced Ardnamurchan. Quite incredibly they came away with a win against a well established side, as Erin Starkie hit a double to make it 2-1 on the peninsula.
Next up were Stirling, and whilst they may not have fared as well against Glasgow Mid Argyll, the club should be commended for entering a Women’s team just a year after the club began competing in any senior shinty competition.
Beauly rounded things off, taking on a strong Inverness side who finished runners up the season prior. With good numbers committed for the season, the future is bright at Braeview Park.
Having 3 new teams is a testament to the hard work that volunteers and players are putting in behind the scenes to grow the Women’s game across Scotland, and we hope to see more new sides join them in the future.
