It’s an all national tie to decide who progresses into the 1st round of the cup – do you anticipate it being a close contest?

I’ve never played against Bute before, so I’m really looking forward to this match. On paper it looks like a close contes – Bute are third in the league and have got off to a great start, whilst we’re fourth on the same points but with one extra game played, we have the home advantage and are hoping for a big crowd to cheer us on, as I think the match will be tight.

A good win for GU against Inverness on Saturday – how will you look to carry on your momentum to this weekend, and what are your aims for the cups?

We were happy with the result against Inverness, on the back of the victory over Strathglass in the league the previous week, two clean sheets in a row for the defence, two gutsy performances from our centre line and over those last two games all of our forwards scored at least once, so things are going in the right direction but we know we are a young team in transition. We’re regularly fielding five of last years under 17 team, so it’s possibly slightly early to talk seriously about aims for the cup competitions other than to say we will try our hardest and learn from the experience gained in every match.


It’s been a good start for yourself, with 4 goals from 4 – what’s been working well, and do you feel you can keep up the momentum, and how do you feel your own game has developed over the past season with GU?

I feel very lucky to be playing for Glenurquhart, as it’s a team that focuses on developing local talent. The entire squad that were playing last week attended Glenurquhart High School and played for Glenurquhart at youth level at some point in the past. The management team, and senior players are very encouraging and have huge patience with us youngsters, whilst we do make mistakes – me more than most! – but being exposed to regular competitive matches has definitely helped my personal development, and hopefully if I can stay injury free I can continue to bang in a few more goals this season. There is no feeling like it!
