Ahead of the W M Donald MacTavish Cup Final this Saturday the Juvenile final will take place, with an all conquering Newtonmore side looking to defend their crown against a Skye side who have had many strong battles with ‘More across different age brackets. Newtonmore will be led by under 17 international Jacob Bain, and we spoke to him to get his thoughts ahead of skippering the side.
How are you and the rest of the team feeling ahead of the MacTavish Juvenile Final?
Me and the rest of the team are excited to be back at another final, we’ve all been training hard as a team to try retain the MacTavish.
Newtonmore are no stranger to finals at U17 level, does that give you confidence going into Saturday?
We are now used to the feeling of playing in finals, but we just try to treat it like any other normal game and not let the occasion get to us.
What do you think the key will be to getting a victory on Saturday?
Think the key for us will be to play our normal shinty and keep it simple as we always do, and we’ve not played against Skye u17s in a while so we don’t know what we’re up against but I can imagine them giving us a good game.
How will it feel to lead your team out at Bught Park?
It’ll feel great getting to lead Newtonmore out onto the bught and if we are to go onto win it that’ll will just make it even better!
