The Camanachd Association is pleased to announce that Euan Hardie has been appointed to the role of Regional Development Officer (East Region). He will also be taking the lead on Child Protection & Welfare at the Association. Euan grew up in Beauly and started shinty at the Primary School before playing for Beauly Shinty Club Under-12,14 and 17 teams as well as the Charleston Academy team. He went away for university and studied Architecture at the Mackintosh School of Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art, where he completed his BArch (Hons), DipArch and MArch, and has worked in Architecture practices across Scotland.
Since returning to the Highlands, Euan has re-joined Beauly Shinty Club and has held various roles across the club. He currently manages the newly formed Women’s Team, as well as assisting coaching the Under-14s and the First Team and has had a couple of run outs as a player for the Second Team.
Speaking to Euan he said, “It’s a bit of a change for me, I am really looking forward to working in my new role with the Camanachd Association. I relish the chance to share my passion for the sport and am committed to work across the region. Shinty is a huge part of my personal heritage and that of my local community, and it’s a great privilege to get the chance to work to promote and develop the game. The region I am responsible for is geographically vast and I am relishing travelling throughout the area to help communities, clubs, schools, local authorities and other bodies. More than ever we should be focussed on Health and Wellbeing and Shinty can be a huge catalyst to help people have healthier, happier lives.”
