It’s a dress rehearsal for the WCA Premier Cup final this weekend as Badenoch host Kinlochshiel, but take no shine off the game as it’s an equally important match in the hunt for the Mowi Premier League. An inspired Shiel side are yet to taste defeat this season and will be hoping to register their first ever points against an equally strong Badenoch side. We caught up with Tegan Bruce to get her thoughts ahead of the crunch match.
ou host Badenoch this weekend, how is the mood in the squad ahead of the game?
The mood in the team is really positive. We’ve been working hard at training and everyone’s looking forward to getting back out on the pitch after a free weekend. We know it’ll be a tough game, but we’re excited for the challenge.
Kinlochshiel have never registered a point against Badenoch, what will the team have to do to change this?
We know Badenoch are a strong side, but if we work hard for each other, stay focused for the full match and take our chances when they come, there’s no reason we can’t put in a strong performance and hopefully change that.
You’ll of course face Badenoch again next month in the Premier Cup – how excited are you to take to the field in a national final?
It’s really exciting. Playing in a national final, so it’s a massive occasion for the club and the team. We’re all looking forward to it.
On a personal level, how do you feel your game has developed over the course of the season?
I feel like I’ve become a more confident player as the season has gone on. Every game has been a chance to learn, and I’m always trying to improve. There’s still plenty I want to work on, but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made so far.
