It’s a big one as you take on Newtonmore this weekend in the Strathdearn Cup final, how is the mood in the squad ahead of the game?

The mood in the squad is really good. Everyone’s looking forward to it and there’s a good buzz around the team. We’ve had a strong season so far, but we know it’ll be a tough game and we’ll need to be at our best.

Does facing Newtonmore give an extra level of incentive to run out winners?

Definitely. There’s always an added incentive when it’s Kingussie vs Newtonmore, especially in a cup final. But like any final, you want to go out there and win it regardless of who you’re playing. We know each other well and both teams will be desperate to win, so it should make for a good game.

Kingussie are the top scorers in Mowi North 1 and have the joint best defence, what’s been working well this season?

I think we’ve just been playing well as a team. We’ve got a good young squad and everyone has been contributing, whether that’s scoring goals or working hard defensively.

The first team are struggling with injuries which might mean a few of your players could be drafted in for their match against Kyles, what effect could this have and how can you manage this? 

It could obviously have an effect, but we’ll have to see what players the first team need. We’ve got good depth in the squad and the young boys have been playing really well when they’ve been called up, so whoever we have on Saturday will be ready to step in and do a job.

How much would it mean to you to be the one to lift the trophy for Kingussie?

It would mean a lot to me. To captain a Kingussie side in a cup final is something I’m really proud of, but to be able to lift the trophy at the end of it would make it even more special. Hopefully we can put in a good performance on Saturday and make that happen.
