Mowi Game of the Week - Kinlochshiel V Kingussie
John MacRae Interview
With just a few fixtures remaining in the Mowi Premiership, Kinlochshiel will welcome Kingussie for what promises to be an exciting game in Rearaig, Balmacara, this weekend. Ahead of the fixture, we caught up with John MacRae to get his thoughts on the upcoming match and Kinlochshiel’s season so far.
How are you and the rest of the squad feeling ahead of Saturday’s big home game against Kingussie?
Yeah, all is good with the squad. We are looking forward to the challenge. We had a few very close matches with Kingussie this season, so it will be good to see what the day brings and gauge where we are at with the season coming to a close.
Kinlochshiel have put together some good performances this season and currently sit in the top half of the Premiership. How would you assess the team’s season?
Yeah, this year has been a lot more consistent for us. We have a good mixture of young and old players now, with a lot of talented players coming through. We just need a bit more luck in the cups and to try and get a more consistent team week in, week out, and we won’t be far away.
You scored twice in the 6-0 victory over Col Glen in September. How pleased have you been with your own performance within the squad this year?
Yeah, I have been feeling a lot better this year and fitter, so it is just a case of keeping that going next year. I’m playing more at half forward now instead of full, which is much more enjoyable.
What do you think will be the key to getting a good result against Kingussie on Saturday?
Just the same as we have been doing, really: fighting for each other and finishing our chances when we get them and not giving away easy goals, but they are a good side, so we will need to be at our best.
