Sean MacLeod has been announced as manager of Alba, the Scottish Gaelic international team, as Iomain Cholmcille comes to the Isle of Lewis for the first time ever. He was previously co-manager of the side on two separate occasions.
He has named a squad for the match against the Irish representative team, Fir Uladh? on Saturday 9th November in Siabost. Sean is well versed in international hurling as a player and manager. He played in the first Iomain in Oban in 2007 and is honoured to lead the Scottish Gaelic team on his own home turf.
“I am pleased to announce this year’s team and 8 clubs from different leagues are represented from the Premier League down. Many in this squad are very familiar with the format of international games with several players having played for Alba before this.”
“It also shows how strong Camanachd Leòdhais has been in terms of Camanachd and Gaelic with 8 players involved in this year’s squad and an opportunity for them to present this at an international level at home in Shawbost.”

Iomain Cholmcille is supported by Colmcille, the shared fund of Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Foras na Gaeilge dedicated to strengthening connections between Gaels in Scotland and Ireland. Iomain Cholmcille is being held in Lewis with the support of Comhairle nan Eilean and Horshader Community Development Fund.
