MacTavish Juvenile Final - Newtonmore vs Glen Urquhart

Alfie MacLeod Interview

Saturday’s MacTavish Final will be preceded by the Juvenile final, as Newtonmore’s under 17s face off against Glen Urquhart for their shot at glory. Ahead of the match we spoke to Glen Urquhart’s Alfie MacLeod!

You take on Newtonmore in the MacTavish Juvenile Final this Saturday – how are you feeling ahead of the game?

I’m feeling extremely excited and nervous. The team have been putting in a lot of hard work and it would be nice to reward that hard work by winning a trophy!

What do you see as Newtonmore’s main threats, and how will Glen have to work to minimise these?

Newtonmore are always a dangerous team to play against, their forward play and attacking style is a joy to watch and tricky to play against. We will have to try to lock down their key players, which they have all over the park, and keep them at bay. Each one of our players will have to win their own battles and keep positive.

How are you looking forward to playing at the newly renovated Bught Park?

I am very excited to play on the new Bught, it’s an honour to be one of the first teams to play on it. It’s looking very good!

You were selected for Scotland U17s last year, what was that experience like and how much does representing your country mean?

It was a fantastic privilege to be able to play for Scotland. I enjoyed it immensely. It means so much to me to be able to represent not only Scotland, but my own family, my village, and my club!

You’ve scored 5 goals for the first team this season, how do you feel your game is developing?

I feel happy with the way my seasons going, it started off pretty good and I have to keep that going for the second half of the season. I have come in to the first team last season and felt like I’ve earned my place in at the forward line. I have adjusted to first team, the intensity and the pace of the game. I am excited to what the future holds.
