Badenoch Secure Fourth Consecutive Mowi National Division Title with Dominant Campaign
Badenoch have claimed their fourth consecutive Mowi National Division title, completing a near-perfect league season and solidifying their status as one of the most dominant teams in shinty. With a commanding 30 points from 15 games, they outscored their opposition 104-14, finishing the season with a strong victory over Dunadd.
From the outset, Badenoch were the team to beat, securing crucial early wins with a 5-0 victory over Glenurquhart and a 6-0 triumph over rivals Skye in March. Their defensive strength and relentless attacking play became hallmarks of their season, as they continued to turn on the style against opponents, including a 12-1 victory against Ardnamurchan in April and an 11-1 win against Kinlochshiel in August.
Zoe Reid emerged as a key player for Badenoch, contributing significantly to the team’s success with 23 goals. Her ability to find the net consistently ensured Badenoch remained a formidable attacking force throughout the campaign.
Despite a setback in June when they lost 4-0 away to Skye, Badenoch quickly recovered, reasserting their dominance with back-to-back wins, including a 6-1 win against Mowi Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup winners, Lochaber in July. Their resilience and determination to retain the title shone through in these decisive moments.
This latest triumph reinforces Badenoch’s incredible consistency in the women’s game, as they continue to set the standard in the Mowi WCA National Division. With four consecutive titles now under their belt, the team’s focus will undoubtedly turn towards sustaining this success in future seasons while continuing to inspire the next generation of players through the growth of their second team.
Badenoch’s 2024 campaign will be remembered not only for their remarkable results but also for the sheer quality and depth of their squad, which has proven to be a force to be reckoned with!
