The Camanachd Association welcome the news that Councillors have approved the planning for the redevelopment at Bught Park, Inverness. The planned development, which was made possible through the Government’s Levelling Up Fund,  will refurbish the changing rooms at Bught Park while also constructing a new pavilion alongside the Stadium with an upstairs hospitality venue and a shinty exhbition named “Shinty’s Story” on the ground floor. Shinty’s Story will aim to  highlight our shinty’s culture and place as Scotland’s community sport and further details about this project will be announced in due course.

Shinty’s Story will be steered by the Camanachd Association Heritage Committee:

  • Steven MacKenzie (Camanachd Association President)
  • Derek Keir (Camanachd Association CEO)
  • Roddy McCuish (Camanachd Association Heritage Committee Chair)
  • Dr Hugh Dan MacLennan (Historian and Academic in Shinty)
  • Torquil MacLeod (Event Scotland – Development Manager)
  • Iain Caimbeul (UHI Tourism Research Network)
  • Sheena MacDougall (Learning & Outreach Officer National Library of Scotland | Moving Image Archive Kelvin Hall)
  • Aarron Duncan-MacLeod (Marketing & Comms and Heritage Lead)

The Committee look forward to continuing to work in co-operation with partners such as Highlife Highland and Inverness Shinty Club to ensure that the project is a success. More information about the progression of this vital development will be available throughout 2023.
