Comann Camanachd Dhùn Omhain

Dunoon is the largest town in the Cowal Peninsula, one of shinty’s traditional strongholds. However, whilst the likes of Kyles Athletic, Strachur and Col-Glen have a long and proud history, Dunoon itself traditionally did not have a men’s senior team of its own. Keen to build on the excellent work of the Dunoon junior team, Dunoon Camanachd was set up in 2015 to give young players in the town a club to graduate to (with those who didn’t join a local village club having traditionally been lost to the sport).
FOUNDED IN 2015
The Dunachs
Dunoon Camanachd competed in the Camanachd Association’s South Division 2 in seasons 2016 and 2017, fulfilling all its fixtures and attracting locals to games at Dunoon Stadium. From 2022, Dunoon Camanachd are returning to senior shinty, fielding a joint “Strachur-Dunoon” side with local neighbours Strachur & District Shinty Club. Whilst Dunoon do not currently field a senior side, youth operations continue under the distinct Dunoon Camanachd banner.
If you are interested in joining the club in any capacity please get in touch.
