Strachur-Dunoon Shinty Club

Strachur-Dunoon are a shinty club based in Cowal, founded in 2022. It is a merger of Strachur & District and Dunoon Camanachd, who joined forces after both senior teams went into abeyance. Playing kits are rotated and home matches are played at both Strachurmore and Dunoon Stadium.

The joint team currently competes in Mowi South Division 2, finishing 3rd in 2024.

Strachur were one of the most historic teams in shinty, being founded in 1880, whilst Dunoon played between 2015-18. However, by 2018 neither team were able to field teams due to falling participation numbers. Whilst Dunoon had continued to field a strong youth side, there was no pathway to senior shinty. Thus, both teams merged to field a team in Mowi South Division 2 to ensure shinty continued to be played in the area.
