Mowi Game of the Week - Lochaber vs Inveraray

Ruaridh Graham Interview

All eyes will be on Spean Bridge this Saturday, as Lochaber take on Inveraray in the Ferguson Transport & Shipping Balliemore Cup Final. Ahead of the match we spoke to Inveraray Captain Ruaridh Graham Jnr.

It’s Lochaber in the Ferguson T&S Balliemore Cup Final – How are the squad looking forward to the game?

We are all really looking forward to the game, it’s been a couple of years since we were last in the final so it’s great to be back!

How does it feel to be leading your team out as captain in the final?

It’s an honour to be leading the boys out as captain especially after having 6 months out injured last year. It’s a great feeling to be back playing and even more so as Captain this year.

What do you make of Lochaber as a team?

It’s always been a tough game anytime we’ve played against Lochaber. They are a good team with a mix of physical and skilful players. We know we will have to be at our best to get the result we want on Saturday.

In the league it’s been a mixed bag – can a win on Saturday inspire momentum?

We’ve been disappointed with our league performance this year so far – we’ve had ourselves in some good positions in games but struggled to get the final result over the line – but our performances have definitely been improving in our more recent games. A win on Saturday would be a great boost for the whole club.

Also in the squad is your dad Ruaraidh Graham Sr who has plenty experience in cup finals – how important is having someone with this background in the squad?

It’s great to still have my Dad in the squad. I’m not sure how many times I’ve heard “this is my last year” but every year he’s back in amongst the squad! Between himself and Garry MacPherson they bring a huge amount of experience to the squad. They’ve both been successful in many finals and hopefully their experience can give us an extra boost on Saturday.
