Mowi Game of the Week - Lochaber vs Kinlochshiel
Tegan Bruce Interview
This week’s Women’s Game of the Week sees us focus in on Spean Bridge, as Lochaber return to league duty after their dramatic Valerie Fraser semi final win to take on a well rested Kinlochshiel side. Ahead of the game we spoke to Shiel’s Tegan Bruce.
Shiel make the journey down to Spean Bridge to face Lochaber – how are you feeling ahead of the game?
We’re really looking forward to it, although we are missing some of our key players. Lochaber are always a tough side, but we are still up for the challenge and keen to get back on the pitch after a bit of a break.
Will the girls be raring to go after a month without a match?
Absolutely, although it will be hard as we haven’t played as a whole team in a while, but we have still been training hard and there’s a real sense of energy and focus to try our best to win against Lochaber away. Everyone’s eager to get back into competitive action.
The last three meetings between Lochaber and Kinlochshiel have resulted in a win & draw a-piece – does this give the squad confidence ahead of the game?
Definitely. We know we can match up well with them, and those past results have shown how close the games can be. We’ll take a lot of belief from that going into Sunday.
What do you see as Lochaber’s main threats, and how will you look to nullify these?
Lochaber have some really strong forwards who are dangerous in front of goal, so we’ll need to stay organised at the back and make sure we keep our structure. Pressuring them early and not giving them time on the ball will be key.
